Audit Tools 6.1.1

Alloy Software released a new cumulative update for the Alloy Audit Tools. Alloy Audit Tools is a package of various tools and components used by Alloy Discovery and Alloy Navigator product families to audit computers and work with audit snapshots.

This update improves detection of Microsoft SQL Server editions and serial numbers, among other improvements. A detailed list of changes in this version is available in the Release Notes document available on the Support Portal.

What’s new in this version 6.1.1

  • Added detection of Microsoft SQL Server editions (Standard, Enterprise, Express, etc.)
  • Added detection of Microsoft SQL Server 2017 installation keys and serial numbers.
  • Improved detection of Microsoft SQL Server 2016:
    • Windows Server 2016 Essentials no longer improperly detected as Windows Small Business Server 2016 Essentials.
    • Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTS no longer incorrectly detected as Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTS.
  • Support for macOS 10.13 “High Sierra.” The Audit Snapshot Viewer now remembers the last position of its Line Details windows.

Alloy Navigator Express 8.0.2 Released

Version 8.0.2 is a maintenance release. This release contains 13 maintenance fixes for issues identified in the previous version.

Customers with a current Software Maintenance plan can download the update from the Alloy Support Portal.

Alloy Discovery Enterprise 8 leverages Google API to extract Chromebook data and incorporate it throughout Alloy Navigator’s workflow. Now you can collect and report on inventory data, and perform system management tasks on Chrome devices. This integration provides you with a conveniently consolidated view of your entire Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chromebook computers, as well as mobile and other networked devices providing even more comprehensive asset management capabilities.

Improved Software Recognition

Alloy Discovery 8 adds new tools to its Software Recognition arsenal. Now you can create software recognition rules based on custom Registry keys. This will help detect some tricky software or differentiate software editions, such as Standard vs. Pro.

Now Alloy Discovery distinguishes products running on different platforms but having the same identification information, including Product Name, Version, and Publisher, such as Adobe Acrobat for Windows and for Mac.

In addition, software recognition rules now can be applied on the fly. Your changes will affect not only future software scans, but also previously detected software installations. With this immediate feedback, it is must faster and easier to fine tune recognition rules to fit your needs.

Scheduled Task Analysis

Now Alloy Discovery is able to inventory scheduled tasks on managed client machines.

Improved Data Filtering

Analyzing your inventory data with Advanced Filters is now easier that ever. The Filter Builder’s user interface has been completely redesigned to provide a more intuitive and streamlined user-friendly experience, and now supports drag-and-drop.
